How often do general physicians write prescriptions for flight anxiety?

I just moved across the country and am overdue for a physical exam. I had been seeing a psychiatrist where I used to live for flight anxiety and he was prescribing me Valium every few months. If I get my records faxed to the internist before my physical will he likely be OK writing a brand new patient a prescription for something like Valium?? or will I need to go see a psychiatrist? Trying to minimize copays!
