Hard question on swastikas colliding with hate crimes...?
In China and India what we call the swastika, or hooked cross, has been a symbol of luck for centuries. If a Buddhist was drawing a hooked cross that is perfectly reasonable and anyone taking him to task should be taught a little about buddhist culture and history. There's no need for a buddhist to have an 'excuse' to draw a hooked cross. That the Nazis appropriated the hooked cross as their symbol - although they depicted it in the opposite direction from that used in the orient - does not mean that it can no longer be used in and by the cultures that devised it a millenia ago.
