Is Namramuni Promoting Health and Education?
Namramuni Maharaj asked to more than 7,000 Gujaratis who had assembled at the Netaji Indoor Stadium to celebrate his 39th birthday to come forward and set up welfare institutions in West Bengal. To fulfil his mission of right action, the Muni is setting up a trust that will spread education and health care among the underprivileged in this city, besides caring for abandoned and ailing animals. The funds were raised by Shri Sthanakvasi Samasta Jain Sangh, that auctioned 14 objects signifying the dreams prophet Mahavir's mother Trishala had before his birth. "These objects are elephants, lion, bullock, the ocean, Swastika, Vimana (a flying object), a steamer, two garlands, fire without smoke, the moon, the sun, Lakshmi, Matsya (fish) and a bowl full of diamonds and gems," explained Vinay Shah of the Kolkata Jain Shwetambar Sthanak Gujarati Sangh. The trust will use its resources for serving the needy regardless of their religion. On November 8, Namramuni will leave on foot to return to Mumbai where he has a large following.
