Could I do this without fear of consequences?

It can depend on what state you're in, about whether it has a castle doctrine, whether it extends beyond the walls of your house to the entire property, and so on. If it does, then you're legally entitled to use force against trespassers, and you wouldn't get in trouble for macing them.
