Can I get proof of vehicles tax fax to me?

A few months ago I had insurance takin off my car bcuz it was running & I thought I wouldn't be able to fix it. I had to turn in the tag. But now the car is fixed and I got insurance put back on it, now i just need to get a new tag. I went to the DMV Friday to get a tag but I was told I needed to provide proof that taxes have been paid on the tag. I've paid the taxes, I just have to get the reciept from the treasury office. My question is: will the treasury office fax the reciept to me? I currently live in a different county & would take about a 1hr to go to the treasury office. Do you think I could have them fax the paper to me or will I have to go pick it up?
